This is Paul at Sonoma Raceway, and I was doing a story on him. He was ready to change into his racing gear and when he was getting dressed, he put his sunglasses on a chair and sat on them. He broke the lens. He just ended up putting the broken sunglasses on and leaned over, on top of the car, and said something to another guy involved with the event—looking at him like, “I just broke my sunglasses.”

This was backstage, before a concert. In a weird way Chris was very traditional, in terms of his presentation to the crowd. “When you show up at a gig, you dress one level up from your audience.” All of the beer was for after, not before.
