PHOTOGRAPHY FROM HOME
Success Amidst Shelter-in-Place: Alumna Joy Malone
By: Justyne Gurley
School of Photography Alumna Joy Malone is currently documenting the emotional distress social distancing has caused her, and her family during the current shelter-in-place. In her photo, featured in the New York Times, Ink Stone News, ABC News, The Guardian, and The Wall Street Journal, Malone depicts the heartbreak her daughter felt when she couldn’t embrace her father. This is an all too common occurrence in today’s society all around the globe.
Despite the tragedy, it is important for us to keep our hopes up and to continue to record these strange times. Let us also celebrate Malone’s success, as this image has now been seen around the world.
